Biography

There is a distinctly Flemish feel to the enchanting etchings of Joseph Stannard. As one of the youngest members of the Norwich School of artists (he began to exhibit with them at the age of 14) Joseph Stannard developed a precision of line which was to make his etchings stand out as some of the most sensitive to come from this important School. Despite the brevity of his life, he developed a highly refined etching technique and is known to have instructed his neighbour and fellow artist E.T. Daniell in the art of etching.
